Beginner’s are often drawn to the large (50g) rainbows but it’s the 1 inch wide “one-stroke” rainbows that are the best to start with – and to always have. One inch one-stroke split-cakes can be used for the simplest, fast designs to the most elaborate face painting designs. Read more about the different kinds of split-cakes and their uses here.

My personal favourite one-stroke is my own Rainbow Lorikeet one-stroke that we have TAG Body Art custom make for us. It was inspired by Leanne Courtney. She created a gorgeous bright rainbow one-stroke. I saw it one Facebook and with Leanne’s permission, I had TAG custom make it, and I named it Leanne’s Rainbow.  While I thought Leanne’s Rainbow was great, I’m a huge fan of teal so I had TAG make another version with teal instead of light blue which gives a bit more greenness. Rainbow Lorikeet also has Royal Blue on the end instead of Dark Blue. Both versions have neon yellow and neon magenta which makes these rainbows pop! And they both have extra wide neon yellow to avoid the yellow being lost and muddied by the darker colours – which keeps them bright as can be.

Since then, Leanne Courtney has worked closely with Global Colours, then Fusion Body Art to help them create more wonderful colour combinations – including their own version of Leanne’s (Neon) Rainbow.
