The regular (not extra firm) bristles are soft and flowing. They are great for artists with gentle touch.

    Love this brush!
The short bristles allow me to load paint fast and they also stay together each time and I get perfect rainbows 100% of the time! I love these 😀

  2. Kaitlin Lopez (verified owner)

My favourite brush in my kit!
Love this brush so much I bought two more! The handle is thick so you get a steady grip. The bristles are also thick so they easily pick up the paint. This brush is the perfect brush for making designs for those smaller faces. They’re great for one-strokes!

About Bolt Brushes by Jest Paint

ABOUT JEST PAINT

Anna Wilinski and her husband, Santiago (Santi) Massano are the co-owners of Jest Paint.

After a long love affair with face painting, Anna started Jest Paint as a little online shop in 2009. She was motivated by YouTube viewers who wanted to try her handmade rainbow pots.

ABOUT BOLT BRUSHES

Jest Paint have worked hard to design an ideal set of face painting brushes – from choosing the right handle size to the length and material of the bristles – and created Bolt Brushes.

The handles of Bolt Brushes are coated in a glossy, non-toxic UV-reactive orange paint so that you can easily find your brushes while working at Black Light parties. The bright handle also makes them easy to spot if dropped in the grass or on the ground. The bright orange colour may over time fade to a different shade of orange or yellow from exposure to direct sunlight.

Bolt Brushes are assembled in the USA using components from Thailand.

As the bristles are synthetic, no animals were harmed for the production of these brushes. The wood for Bolt brush handles comes from managed national wood reforestation programs, and the manufacturer is involved with non-profit organizations that fight to protect endangered species, as well as organizations that provide free school materials to kids in need.

About Angular Brushes

Angular brushes are good for:

  • precise strokes
  • one-stroke designs – especially roses
  • leaves
  • base-coats – laying in large areas of colour
  • tight shading and highlighting
  • painting sharply defined edges

Angled, angular, angular shader, angle flat… a brush by any other name… This is a flat brush with the bristle head cut on an angle.

As with a regular flat brush, you can use it to paint thin or thick lines, do one-strokes and fill areas of colour. An angled brush is particularly handy for using the tip to put a finer point on your one-stroke designs and getting into the nooks and crannies of a face.

Some professional face painters love angular brushes for painting leaves, and it’s especially favoured by artists who love to paint roses. Check out this demo on YouTube of painting one-stroke roses and leaves with Angular Shader brushes. You could get the same effect using a one-stroke cake like Rose or Cupcake.
