Dagger Brushes are a unique shape, like a sharp angular brush but with a fine tip and a gradual curved edge. A useful brush, the dagger is very adaptable and can be used to create long flowing lines, fine lines, long teardrops, petals, leaves, flower stems and other foliage.

Watch this video for examples of use of a Dagger Brush for face painting.

The Springback series of brushes from Global Colours has been designed by award-winning body artist Julie Tattam, for face and body painters. The premium white taklon bristles have that all-important firm ‘spring-back’ functionality and optimum bristle length to give you maximum control over your brushstrokes.

The durable acrylic handles in a pretty teal colour have tapered ends useful for moving hairs off your “canvas”, easier insertion into Brush Wallets and other holders, and even for scooping paints. The densely packed nickel plated ferrules leave no space for water and paint to get trapped making them easy to clean, and quick and hygienic to dry.

About Angular Brushes

Angular brushes are good for:

  • precise strokes
  • one-stroke designs – especially roses
  • leaves
  • base-coats – laying in large areas of colour
  • tight shading and highlighting
  • painting sharply defined edges

Angled, angular, angular shader, angle flat… a brush by any other name… This is a flat brush with the bristle head cut on an angle.

As with a regular flat brush, you can use it to paint thin or thick lines, do one-strokes and fill areas of colour. An angled brush is particularly handy for using the tip to put a finer point on your one-stroke designs and getting into the nooks and crannies of a face.

Some professional face painters love angular brushes for painting leaves, and it’s especially favoured by artists who love to paint roses. Check out this demo on YouTube of painting one-stroke roses and leaves with Angular Shader brushes. You could get the same effect using a one-stroke cake like Rose or Cupcake.
