Description
Script Liner brushes are a specialized type of round brush with very long, narrow bristles. They are used for creating long, thin, continuous lines and are popular for their paint carrying capability – meaning you have to reload your brush less often. The longer the hairs, the more paint and water the brush can carry.
Some painters find that longer bristles can compensate for a slightly wobbly hand as the slight sideways movement may be dissipated down the long bristles leaving the tip which is on the skin remaining still and even. Other painters prefer to stick to regular round brushes with their shorter bristles which give them finer control. It can be a little difficult to manage a long liner in tight curves because it tends to flick out but some professional face painters wouldn’t be without a script liner brush in their face paint kit.
Script Liner brushes are good for:
- creating long, thin, looping lines
- delicate lettering
- highlighting
- outlining
To best load a liner brush, thin the paint until it is the consistency of ink and keep the handle completely vertical when using it to allow a smooth gravity flow of paint.
